  1. If you downloaded XRS450-1.ZIP, XRS450-2.ZIP and XRS450-3.ZIP from an
  2. electronic bulletin board system, you must extract each onto a blank
  3. 360k diskette to use the automated installation program!
  4.  
  5. To install XRS on a hard disk system, simply change to the hard drive,
  6. and type "A:INSTALL".  If you have a floppy-only PC, you should follow
  7. the instructions given in "2FLOPPY.XRS" on diskette #1 instead!  XRS
  8. does not require a hard disk, but using the install program does!
  9.  
  10. LAST-MINUTE NOTE:  XRS UNDER MS/DOS 5.0 SOMTIMES REQUIRES USING "LOADFIX".
  11. This is *not* an XRS error - it is an RTLink+ .RTL loader's problem!  You
  12. get the message:      error est0001: Illegal format in loadable file.
  13. RTLinkSt.Com startup code is giving a false error message, and you must
  14. use LoadFix to run the program.  Whether you get this message depends on
  15. how much memory you have free and which version of XRS you are using.
  16. This problem will be corrected in a future version by using the more
  17. recent RTLink+ 4.14 version.  On my machine, the overlayed versions do
  18. not require a fix to run, but the non-overlayed versions do...  You can
  19. also do and end-run around this problem by experimenting with "TSRCOMxx"
  20. (Kim Kokkonen's) Public Domain programs (MARK, EATMEM and RELEASE).
